Resolved Question:

My 10 year old dapple dachshund has a hard lump on one side of the top of his head. It appeared to get bigger over a couple of days, but he showed no other symptoms. It now has a raw spot at the top of the knot..due to rubbing or stretching of skin?? Over the last week it seems to have gone down but now there is another one or extension of the original moving down the back of his head. Please help.

Sorry to hear about your guy. My recommendation would be to have your veterinarian look at the bump and possibly aspirate (reverse injection) the mass. In most cases these are benign, but malignant masses do occur, and surgery when small is the best option. Below are some web sites that discuss dermal masses. Best of luck with your boy.
