We are a group of neighbors who meet frequently outside to gab. Recently several of us have gotten severe diarrhea. We never touch each other, and have little contact except through playing with the dog of one of the women. Is it possible that the dog is spreading diarrhea (he is fine) from one to the other of us humans?
Hello,
The only way this could have come from the dog is if the dog had Giarrdia or another intestinal parasite that could be transmitted to humans. The problems that would cause the dog diarrhea is most likely not the culprit since the problems dogs get are not transferable between humans and dogs or even humans and other animals. Joan
Reply to Jav917's Post: the dog is fine. One human got diarrhea and somehow it spread to other humans - the question is whether the dog could spread human diarrhea from one human to another, even if the dog is not sick.
The dog could not be the carrier of the human diarrhea. This would have to come from somthing that is only common to the group other than the dog.
If you would like I can send this over to our Health experts to see if they may have some further insight of what may be happening. Joan
