HI Princess Kirra,

Swelling of the abdomen and mammary glands can be a sign of pregnancy, but to be certain you should take her in for a sonogram to confirm as dogs do go through false pregnancy during the third stage of the heat cycle which will show the same symptoms of a pregnant dog. Another important factor is if the dog is pregnant who the father is. A male dog lthat is larger than she can cause problems during birth as the pup may be too large to pass through and a C section may be needed. I am going to direct you to a site on pregnancy and false pregnancy for futher reading.

Reply to Sally Grott's Post: she is currently about 2 years old and she had a phantom about 8 months ago, the father of the phantom has passed away but the new dad would be about 7 months old and his balls had droped about three weeks prior to them mating. ( so does this make it possible or did he have to drop for longer before the sperm is active ?) <and yes he was a litle smaller than she was (he was 1.9 kilo's and she is 2.2kilos)> this one seems alot different to her phantom as with that she only had the enlarged nipples but with this one she is actually getting a larger tummy after many hours of not feeding her, (so it is not the food in her tummy) she is also getting quite aggressive with her food when we feed her as we also have a rottweiler who happens to be her best friend(for about the last 2 years). if you still think that is is quite possible then we will go and book the tests needed to confirm. But we just need some quick ""Look out for's"" before we book the tests. thankyou for your response and yes we will accept.....

That makes it possible as a male can procreate at the age of six months. This is why neutering is recommended before six months of age. IF you actually saw the two tie then it is more likely. Now a problem will lie also if you wish to register the litter with the AKC, as they will not register them if the male is under a year old.
