Not eating. Can''t keep water down - drinks small amounts and vomits back with white slime. We are sure he had a stroke six days ago, but has recovered nicely as far as walking, etc. Does have kidney function - bowel movement loose and small amount. Will not eat any type of food now. Five days ago he ate a small amount of beef and vomited 5 hours later. He will not eat anything now. He has a foul odor from the mouth - has had this for about four weeks.

Unfortunately it sounds as if a vet visit is warranted. If he is unable to hold down water he can dehydrate very quickly. This, along with the electrolyte imbalance resulting from vomiting, can prove fatal alone and is complicating the underlying condition. At the minimum bloodwork will likely need to be done and fluid therapy/anti nausea medication given. I would not wait to have him seen.

If you are concerned about the cost of treatment, you can look at the following websites for financing information/financial assistance.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need additional information.
