Optional Information: Age: 9; Male; Breed: Austrian Cattle dog.
They can have a small amount of ham as a treat but you do not want to give them ham bones or lots of ham or ham fat.
The bones are easily chewed up and splintered and so dogs often swallow them resulting in intestinal obstruction or damage.
The ham is salty and an overload of salt is not good for the dog.
Suddenly getting a big chunk of fat in the diet can upset the intestinal tract or even cause pancreatic inflammation.
So a small treat is OK but a huge amount or a bone etc is not.
Hope this helps you!
