Hi Growe,

Licking in the manner you indicate could be a sign that your dog has nausea or a problem with anemia, a liver issue, or even a seizure problem.

If this is an ongoing issue, or it continues to occur, you will want to have your dog seen and evaluated by the vet. Most likely bloodwork will need to be done.
