What is the keflex dose for dogs? My dog has a small abcess at a site where she recently had a lump removed. My vet prescribed two 500 mg capsules twice a day (that is 1000 mg twice a day). She is a 3 1/2 year old golden retriever and weighs 65 lbs. The dose seems excessive to me.
Hi,
The standard dosage is ten mg per lb of the dogs weight BID twice a day. So for a dog her size the dose is within the nomal range.

If your baby has any side effects from this medication or stops eating it should be immediately reported to your vet.
I hope she feels better very soon. I will always be here for both of you.
Sincerest best wishes,
Terri
