what are the stages of death for a dog

Customer Question

My dog is old, she can't walk on her hind legs and now she is pulling the hair out of her back end. Are these signs that she is close to death?

Hi reneea,

I don't think this sounds like death. It sounds like she is in pain though. For this you will want to get pain meds from a vet. Also the pulling out of the hair can be caused by flea allergies, seasonal allergies or other skin problems that should be checked so treatment can begin.

When a dog's end is near they will usually stop doing the things they once enjoyed, like eating, car rides, walks, treats etc.
