Is it okay to burry a puppy if it just died of parvo

Customer Question

My puppy just died and we need to dispose of her. Is it okay to bury her. She died of parvo. I'm not sure if this virus can live in the ground

Hi mhelmuth,

I am sorry for your loss, this must be hard for you and the family.

Parvo can live in the ground for several years so if you bury the dog then the chances of another pup getting this is highly probable. Actually, there is already parvo on your lawn so care must be taken if you should get another pup. Here is more on parvo.

since you just suffered a loss I am also going to direct you to a site on the Rainbow bridge which may help you through this.
