Customer Question

My little dog has three broken ribs and a bruised lung, the emergency care facility has him on oxygen and tells me that he cannot breath without it. Can a dogs lungs heal after being on oxygen and can he be weaned off the oxygen. Also, it seems as though he is so upset about being at the facility that he will not eat or drink and wants to go home, will going home help him get better?

It depends mostly on what the nature of his rib fractures are. It may be more the ribs than the lung injury keeping him there. I'm assuming he is on a ventilator rather than just oxygen?

Wish I could be more help, but without knowing better what the problem is, I'd be reluctant to make any forecasts or predictions.
