Resolved Question:

I can feel a lump or a knot on my dogs throat. What could be the cause of this and is it normal?

A lump in the throat can mean a lot of things. This is where the lymph nodes reside and they will swell if there is a virus, allergic reaction or infection.

This is also a common place to see root tooth infections.

No matter what, you need to see the vet with her tomorrow for an exam.

Reply to Tammy F.'s Post: She is scheduled to go to the vet on Friday. Would it be ok to wait, or should I take her in tomorrow? She has been on anti-biotics the past two weeks along with benadryl and prednisone due to a staph/allergic problem.

If you can get her in tomorrow, it would be better. This could be a very simple problem caused by a swollen lymph node. But it's best to investigate it further.
