The current recommendations are to deworm the puppies every 2 weeks starting at 2 weeks. Continue to deworm until they are in their new homes.

First distemper/parvo shots do not need to be given until 6 weeks unless the puppies were not nursing. The shots are given every 3 weeks thereafter until 16 weeks of age. Rabies can only be administered by a licensed veterinarian and is not usually given until 16 weeks (no booster until the next year).

Flea prevention should be started at 6-10 weeks. I recommend Frontline or Advantage. Heartworm prevention can be started by 3-4 months of age, but should definitely by given before 6 months of age. Once on heartworm prevention, they may no longer need routine dewormings because heartworm products deworm for roundworms and hookworms (and whipworms for Interceptor) monthly.

Good luck!
