CAN DOGS SENSE ILLNESS IN OTHER DOGS

I HAVE TWO SIBERIAN HUSKIES. THE EIGHT YEAR HOLD SEEMS BE VERY TIRED LATELY AND THE THREE YEARS KEEPS LAYING NEAR HIM, SMELLING HIM WILL SMELL THE FLOOR WHERE HE LAYS AFTER HE GETS UP AND THE THREE YEAR OLD HAS NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE. HE SEEMS WORRIED ABOUT HIM. OH, THE 8YR. OLD IS SHADOW AND THE 3YR OLD IS DEMPSEY.

Yes dogs can pick up on the chemical changes due to illness in other animals.
I would suggest having your vet check the senior dog for health issues including an exam and perhaps some bloodwork.
The fact that your older dog is having an issue with lethargy may indicate a problem with heart or liver or kidneys. If you see him drinking more this could be a sign of a kidney or liver problem. Usually with liver issues a dog will eat less but they may also eat less with heart disease if they are not feeling well.
Sometimes if an older dog is ill younger ones might attack the older dog too. Its normal pack behavior to get rid of sick animals from the group. Its nice that in your case the younger dog is simply watching the older one carefully.
