What will bring pine rosin off of my dogs coat

Customer Question

She loves to hunt rabbits so she hunts, crawls, etc... in a huge stack of pine wood logs. She has rosin all over her head, body, paws, etc... We've tried peanut butter and it slowly works and we used Mineral Spirits on her paws but either the contact with her body or the odor seemed to irritate her so we didn't use the Mineral Spirits. She has most of the rosin on her face around her nose and eyes. Please help us - she looks so pitiful.

You can try the old gum removal trick that works on people hair:

1. Put ice cubes in a plastic bag.

2. Apply ice cubes to gum until gum freezes and hardens.

3. Gently break gum away from the hair.

4. If the freezing method fails, apply a small amount of nontoxic oil, such as canola or olive oil, to hair around gum and to gum itself.

5. Massage oil into hair and gum; leave for 20 minutes.

6. Gently comb out gum. It should slide out easily. If it doesn't, repeat the process.

Or you can try:

Rubbing alcohol

Or you can:

Use almond oil. Rub a little bit of the oil on the gum. The gum will slide right out of your hair. Not only does this get rid of the gum, you will also see added shine in your hair. Almond oil is great for your hair. You can kill two birds with one stone.

Let me know if you have questions.

Reply to Tammy Falkner's Post: Our dog is a XXXXX XXXXX - she has short hair so combing is not an option - we will try some more oil on her - we thought perhaps you knew of a shampoo on the market that we could buy. It's very difficult to work around her face but thank you for your time.

You are very welcome. I remember once that we had a chihuahua who got gum all over his face. We bought a moustache trimmer and trimmed all the hair away from his nose and face. He didn't seem to mind the trimmer much because it was pretty quiet and it got pretty close. You could probably even use the flat side of a man's electric shaver.

I hope this helps more!
