I feed my 3 yr. old indoor cat Spots Stew wild salmon

Customer Question

I feed my 3 yr. old indoor cat Spots Stew wild salmon kibble. She also gets a tsp full of light tuna in the morning. Is this a healthy diet? If not, what should I be feeding her? Thanks, Gayle
JA: Gayle might be sick or disturbed by something. The veterinarian will know what to do. Have there been any changes in the cat's appearance or diet?
Customer: My cat is not sick. Just need to know a good diet.
JA: Is there anything else you think the vet should know?
Customer: My cat is in good health but I've heard that fish is not really good for cats. What do you think?

Hi Gayle,

That is a great food.Tuna is fine 3 times a week. However, it does not contain taurine so she must also eat cat food.

Canned is best for cats with kibble on the side.

Please read articles written by a feline vet:

www.catinfo.org

Natural foods are Halo, Merrick, nutro, wellness or natural balance

Halo is available OTC in Petco and comes in wet and dry versions.

Supermarket canned is also fine like Friskies or 9 lives.

Please let me know how she is doing .

Please be so kind as to rate my answer with positive feedback; that is the only way I receive credit for my assistance. Thank you very much!

To reiterate, my cats main food is kibble Spots Stew wild salmon. She gets a tsp. of light tuna in the morning. So she is on an all fish diet. I've read she should be eating high quality chicken canned food. All fish is not good. Please advise

Hi Gayle,

An all fish diet is not really good for her. It is best to add poultry and or beef

Expert:  Terri replied 4 months ago.

There are many foods on the market that will provide other choices.

Would you like me to list them for you?

The reason all fish is not good is due to excess vitamin D
