Hello, and welcome.

My name is ***** ***** I will be glad to help with your question about Velvet.

Was she sent home on any medications?

How long after she was spayed did you bring her home?

Is she groggy?

Has she eaten or drunk anything since she's home?

Thanks for all your additional information and after you reply, please allow me some time to send your detailed answer.

Warmest regards,

Cher

Hi again, and thanks for your reply with very helpful information.

From your description, it sound like Velvet may be experiencing an adverse reaction to the anesthesia she was given for the surgery and/or any medications she was given during or after the procedure.

Unfortunately, there's really nothing to be done at home at this time, but put an emergency call in to your vet to explain her symptoms and she should be seen in person to be treated. The labored breathing is of concern. If you can't reach your vet, bring her to an ER vet center for evaluation.

I hope all will be well with Velvet and please let me know how she's doing. Thanks!

Please be so kind as to rate my answer with positive feedback, as that is the only way I receive recognition from the site for my assistance. Thank you very much!

Hi again,

I also wanted to mention that the sound you're hearing at the end of her meow is most likely just made by surplus saliva in her throat. Her throat may be sore from being intubated during the surgery.

Please take a moment to rate my answer positively or if you need more information, please click 'reply.' Thank you very much!

Warmest wishes,

Cher
