Have Cat Questions? Ask a Cat Vet Online.
I am sorry to hear you are worried about Simba. My name is Rebecca. I am a veterinarian and will do my best to help.
If he can swallow, if he is eating and drinking, he probably does not have anything stuck in his throat. Often a cat will act as though there is something in the throat, if the lining of the throat is swollen and it feels like something is in there. He may have swollen lymph nodes pressing on his throat.
It is good he is eating. Can you take his temperature with a thermometer?
He may have an infection or allergies causing these symptoms. He may need antibiotics. If he continues like this, having him checked out by your veterinarian and getting medication may be the best thing. Until then, keep him well hydrated and eating. Let me know if you can take his temperature; I know that is hard to do with a cat.

If he is breathing with his mouth open, he should see a veterinarian as soon as possible.
