How can I help you?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Cat ingested 5mg amlodopine. Gave it hydrogen peroxide to try and get it to throw up. Hasn't thrown up. Cat is about 15lbs. About 4 yrs old otherwise healthy. Seems normal and it's been about 75 mins. Should I be concerned

Still there?
Expert:  Terri replied 1 year ago.

I am sorry you are worried. Was this for your dog?

The recommended dose rate for this drug in dogs is 0.025 to 0.05 mg per pound of your dog's bodyweight. This corresponds to a top dose of 2.5 mg, if your cat swallowed 1.25 mg.

Where I supply clients with information about drugs or dose rates I try to give a link so that they can check the accuracy of what I have said : LINK

I would not expect any harm from this one time dose

Please be so kind as to rate my answer with positive feedback; that is the only way I receive credit for my assistance. Thank you very much!

Expert:  Terri replied 1 year ago.

Yes, this drug is used for dogs and cats. I would not expect any adverse effects from this one time dose.

Your kitty should be just fine.

I hope this eases your mind.

Have a wonderful holiday,

Even though it's 5 mg?
Expert:  Terri replied 1 year ago.

Yes, as long as she is healthy and its a one time dose.I would give her a big meal of cat food to dilute the drug in her system.

Do keep an eye on her for any symptoms of low blood pressure.
