I am sorry your boy is not feeling well.
Gagging can be due to a sore throat or nausea.
Give him one drop of honey (by dropper) every 3 hours to sooth his throat.
If he is nauseous give him one quarter of a ten mg pepcid A/C (famotidine) in a tablespoon of chicken or turkey baby food (no onion or garlic). Wait 30 minutes and offer the rest of the jar.
Please let me know how he is doing. Reply here or if you prefer we can speak on the phone.

Thanks so much for your very helpful reply. I know you are worried about your baby.
Most URI's are viral. Antibiotics are only given to prevent secondary infections or if it has turned bacterial.
He may be gagging because his throat hurts. If so, the honey will sooth. 4 doses of antibiotics should show improvement.
Make a steam room in your bathroom by running a hot shower. Take him in for ten minute intervals to break up any congestion.
You can also give him lysine to boost his immune system.
Feed him only soft foods like pate canned cat food or human baby food.
Please let me know how he responds
GREAT! A cats appetite is the best barometer of how he is feeling. So if he is running around and eating, those are great signs.
Just give him one drop of honey every 3 - 4 hours to sooth his throat.
Let me know if the gagging stops.
Is the antibiotic clavamox or amoxicillin?
How many doses has he had?
That is the correct medication for his issue. He should feel better after 4 doses. However, give the antibiotic for the recommended 7 to 10 days so all bacteria is killed off and does not re-infect him.
As long as he is eating and active he does not need to return to his vet.
Please let me know how he is doing.

GREAT news! I am thrilled he is better.
Yes, its a good idea to finish the entire antibiotic dose so he does not become reinfected.
