Customer Question

I believe my 13 year old female kitty has acid reflux. She also has a history of UTI's. I read that it was okay to use small doses of a medication like prilosec but then saw that one of the side effects could be UTI. Would a different medication like Nexium or Prevacid be better? Any suggestions?

Hello, and welcome!

I'm sorry Sasha is having trouble with suspected acid reflux. Instead of Prilosec, Nexium or Prevacid, why do you give Pepcid AC a chance. The generic name is 'famotidine' and you would give 1/4 of a 10 mg. tablet once or twice a day; it's a tiny pill, so will not be difficult to hide in a small amount of paté style wet cat food or plain, jarred baby food chicken containing no onion or garlic--Beechnut Stage 1 chicken and chicken broth is a good one. Here is more information about this acid controller:

Hopefully, she will not be troubled by a UTI.

I hope all will be well with Sasha!

Warmest regards,

Cher
