Customer Question

I have two young kittens that are very malnourished. Their mother was a stray who was only a kitten herself and she had a litter of 5. I believe she is too tiny to take care of all of them and one by one they died off leaving just the two. I have now taken the two from their mother and they are about 8 weeks old but still look like they are only a couple weeks old. I took the sickest one away first and worked on his eyes which were infected and got that cleared up. He is starting to gain some weight but he has very strong smelling urine. His bowel movements seem to be ok and he is drinking water and I give them canned cat food which is pretty runny too.

Hello,
Bless you for saving these precious babies! You are AWESOME!
It is possible they did not grow due to malnutrition BUT as long as they are now eating well they CAN make it up.

Its just like a premature baby. They develop a little slow but eventually get there.
Apply a damp teabag to his infected eye to sooth them.
The one with strong urine may have a UTI which is common in kittens:

Give him 2 drops of cranberry juice by dropper every day to lower the PH of his urine.
