We have separated the baby kittens from the mother. the mother

Resolved Question:

We have separated the baby kittens from the mother. the mother keep wandering around and kind of screaming as if she is looking for the kittens. How long is liable to last and is their anything we can do to help. The mother was a stray and will not let us touch her as yet.

The kittens are about 6 weeks. We do not know for sure. We have been feeding the mother on the front porch for a bout 6 months. She would come and eat and leave. We finnally figered out that she had some kittens but could not find them. One finally followed her to eat. We caught her and the kittens in the animal trap. We have keep the mothe and took her to the vet and had her fixed and we sent the kittens to the animal shelter.

Thanks for getting back to me. Every cat is different in how long it takes to get over being upset. Some never are at all, while others can take a couple weeks. Hopefully this one will fall somewhere in between, and be fine within a couple of days.

 

 

Unfortunately, since this cat doesn't want petting and attention there isn't a lot that you can do for her, but you could try a Feliway diffuser. These contain calming pheromones, and help with any stress induced behavior. Most larger pet stores carry Feliway. Here is a website about this:
