we gave our cat12.5mg of benadryl about a half hour ago after being outside and possibly being stung/bitten by something that caused her to puke and her right eye to swell...she has stopped puking and has eaten some and drank water without puking further but the swelling has not diminished much...should we give her another dose; if so, when and do u think she is okay???? thx, scared daddy :(

Hello,I am sorry to hear Leia got stung by something.Even with the Benadryl the swelling will not go down immediately this can take several hours and in some cases a day or two to fully resolve. Benadryl can be give at a dose of 1-2 mg per pound of body weight every 6 hours so I would not give any more at this time and allow the Benadryl some time to work.I would keep a close eye on her if she has any additional vomiting, has trouble breathing or any other problems develop I would have her seen by a vet, it is possible she may need something stronger then the Benadryl.I hope this helps, please reply back if you have additional questions and I will be glad to help you further. We are testing a new rating system is you have any problem with it please let me know.
