My cat hurt his paw on something and has been limping for several

This answer was rated:

My cat hurt his paw on something and has been limping for several days. I have looked at his paw several times but do not see anything, I have also felt up and down his leg and he does not seem to mind so I do not think anything is broken. Will his paw get better on its own or is there something I can do to help him?

Hi there,

How old is he?

Does he go outside?

Which leg is it?

Is he eating and eliminating normally?

Yes, he has a good appetite and going to the bathroom normal.

Thank you, Katy

Hi Katy,

I am sorry your boy was hurt.

In a cat his age that does not go out, a broken paw is unlikely. He may have sprained it or twisted his ankle. He could have a spinter inbetween his toe or pads.

Feel through every inch of his leg and side. The try his back and neck.It may be a disc or vertebrae.

Alternate warm and cold compresses and see which gives him more relief.

He cannot have any human OTC's for pain or swelling because most are toxic to cats.

Since he is eating it is not an emergency but if he is not better in two days, I would have a vet check him and do an xray.

Please let me know how he is doing. I hope all will be well.

Warmest best wishes.
