How much did you give?
What is your cats normal dose?
What time was it given?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Normal 8 units, gave 18.
Expert:  Dr. Gary replied 7 years ago.

At this dose, you're going to need to get him to an ER clinic so they can put him on a Dextrose (IV glucose) drip for the rest of the night and probably a good 12 hours. If the ER clinic is a ways away, then I would have some karo syrup or sugar water on hand to rub on the gums in case he has any problems on the way.

He should be fine as long as he's on the dextrose drip and they watch his blood glucose closely. The insulin should be out of his system in 12-18 hours so it shouldn't be too expensive for you either.

Hope this helps, good luck

Too late. He died.

I'm so sorry for your loss

In the freenzie of dealing with this I am happy to report that our cat Did Not Die, as I previously reported.... We rushed Bear (our cat) to the closest available vet @ 11pm, 20 miles away in a driving rain storm. The vet did exactly what Dr Gary had recommended, and we were able to PU Bear today front the vet, alive and well. THANK YOU SO MUCH. IVAN

That's great news, thanks for the update. Glad he's back to normal and at home. I'm sure he is too.
