My cat is about 6 months old and she has been in labor for over 24 hours. There is a mucus plug showing, but it seems contractions have stopped. She has bloody discharge and is laying quietly, but conscious and drinks a small amount of water. What can I do for her?
Hi,
Your cat likely needs a c-section. You need to bring her to an emergency veterinarian. She should not have been bred this young. She's likely too small to have her kittens naturally.
Do you have access to an emergency vet?
Please let me know....I'm very concerned.
No, I do not have access to an emergency vet at this time.
If you do not have access to an emergency veterinarian, you need to bring her to the vet first thing in the morning. Do not pull on anything and please do not insert anything into your cat in an attempt to remove the kittens. Please make sure to offer her water/food if she is able to swallow and is alert.
I am very concerned for your cat. If you tell me where you live, I can help you locate an emergency veterinarian nearby.
Thank you for your help and advice. I live on the Big Island of Hawaii, close to Hilo. I will go to see Dr. Sterrett Grune in the morning. Aloha!!
