I am a vet tech. My cat started with weight loss about 9 mths

Resolved Question:

I am a vet tech. My cat started with weight loss about 9 mths ago. No diarrhea. Fecal tests blood tests t4, all coming out normal. Possible IBD treated with pred for about 3 weeks. Seemed to have gained some weight back. About 1mth ago started losing again. Started pred back up and now non med resoloving water diarrhea for about 2 weeks. TLI test normal.Cobalamine folate test not normal injection given. Centrine, panacur, metronidazole, proviable low res, ID food, cimetidine nothing working. She is 14 years old. Ravenous appetite for about 1 1/2 yrs, even now. Giving fluid therapy to help with dehydration. Any Ideas my vets are even stumped!! Any suggestions Don't want to give up yet. Started her on viokase-v even with normal tli but diarrhea now still persistent.

I'm guessing a blood chemistry screen included SAP, SALT, glucose, creatinine, BUN, Ca, P, Na and K. You didn't mention FeLV/FIV tests.

IBD and intestinal lymphoma have similar clinical signs. Intestinal biopsy is the best option for diagnosis, but benefit may not outweigh the risks. Why did you stop the pred?Dose of pred may need to be increase or other immunosuppressant started along with maintenance metronidazole.

Addison's disease?

These are some thoughts in addition to what you and your vets already have on the list.

I wish you luck.
