It seems that Ichthammol is acceptable as an anteseptic used in small quanties. The only concern I would have is does contain a small percentage of Zinc Oxide which can be toxic if taken internally in large quantities. Ichthammol is widely known as a veterinary ointment for soothing abrassions or injuries. One of the active ingredients is Chloroxylenol is a disinfectant of low toxicity as well as Coal Tar.
