can deworming cause blood or mucus in a kittens stool

Yes it can as the worms detaching from the intestinal walls can cause irritation and a little bleeding.
However its possible that worms are not the only parasites the kitten has. Coccidia or giardia can cause mucous filled stools with blood too.
If you dewormed today I'd wait and see if the stool firms up as the poison passes through they system and elimnates the worms. If the problem keeps up, if your vet is open Monday, you can bring a fresh stool sample in to be checked for other parasites and get the meds to treat them.
