male cat crying out and aggressive behavior

This answer was rated:

My male neutered cat is constantly crying out and tries to initiate relations with a spayed female in same household and acts as if nonneutered sprays and wants to get outside constantly. He had FUS in past and has eaten some store boughten cat food recently which he should not be eating at all. Could he possibly have gotten FUS back and if not what do i do about his constant crying and meowling? One veterinary doc suggested a antidepressent but I was unable to get him to take this. He is very against taking any medication and even liquid form is very difficult with this particular male tabby. The vet suggested he may have behavioral problems and sees other cats outside which causes his spraying around in certain spots and spray smell in other places and tries to bite on phone cords as well from time to time although his teeth have been cleaned once and seem to be ok. Thanks for any help in this matter. Am bringing him in for a urine testing and exam in about 6 days time. Mary
Once a FUS cat always an FUS cat. I don't beleive is changing foods. If your cat has had this problem in the past he should remain of the appropriate is his medication.
I am not suggesting your vet is wrong with some of the suggestions of why the behavior of your cat is what it is...
But, people underestimate pain in animals because cats don't say "hey this hurts"
There only way of communicating is their actions. Urination pain chronically is a cat can be more than just vocalizing. I feel like your best start is addressing that issue. If medication is hard to give you may want to stay at the hospital and be medicated. Then there are some muscle relaxants that can help with the pain when urinating. Ask your vet for them to be formulated so they can be applied to the inner ear and see if the pain is controlled do the signs of behavior change.

Relist: I still need help.
This cat is 12 years old now and still is doing the same type of behaviors as before but not so much the spraying of urine as before. I feed ocasional meow mix and does not seem to hurt this cat so not sure he has the FUS back when I did bring him to Vet they said urine test negative for that. He is very terriorial and I got a new cat about a year ago another male and younger. Thanks. I recently lost my siberian husky 13 1/2 years old maybe he is depressed from losing this pal of his.

  • I must tell you I found this site by accident and was amazed when I asked a question of the Veteranians online. I wish I could have found it sooner it could have made such a difference in the outcome of my pet's surgery. However, I am passing along the information to my sister-in-law (a cat-rescue person who is also a nurse), and perhaps it will help someone else who may experience the same problem. The doctor who answered my question was amazing, and while it didn't come it time to change the outcome of my situation, it is reassuring to know the caliber of Vets/Doctors that you have at JustAnswer. Thank you for being there. Alice H. Jacksonville, Fl.
