I noticed my mail cockatiel Pierre did a large loose

Customer Question

I noticed my mail cockatiel Pierre did a large loose dropping twice this evening. I also noticed it was a bit runny a day or two ago. I believe the femail Mimi has normal stool. I recently gave them a mini alfalfa cube that they were chewing and now I'm wondering if that has caused issues.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Strange behavior is often perplexing. I'm sure the Veterinarian can help you. How old is Pierre?
Customer: I inherited him from my Mom - he may be 12 or so?
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Pierre?
Customer: Right now he is acting normally except seems a bit hungry - although they do seem to have a snack/meal around 8:30 or so at night. He also has a fiber perch that sometimes gets droppings on, and while I try to keep it clean I'm not sure if that could have caused a problem.

Hello and welcome. My name is ***** ***** I'm a biologist with a special interest in bird health. I'm sorry to hear that Pierre is having a problem. Some additional information will be useful.

What color was the loose dropping?

Has he had any more since the first one?

Does he chew on the fiber perch?

What is his normal diet?

Thank you.
