Customer Question

I need to try to work on my chickens abscess, but am by myself without someone to hold. Can I give some Valium to safely sedate?

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. We don't have many avian oriented vets on the site. Yes, diazepam (Valium) can be safely dosed to chickens at 0.55-0.99 mg/kg (0.25 - 0.45 mg/lb). It's best to not allow perching while the diazepam is in her system lest she become too drowsy and fall from the perch.

Hi,
I'm just following up on our conversation about Perch. How is everything going?
