My female bird has been pooping only a very little

Customer Question

My female bird has been pooping only a very little for several days. She is swollen around her butt and sore looking. We only have one bird vet anywhere close and she is out of town till Monday. What can I do??

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. You're necessarily constrained by how much you can do without the assistance of an avian-oriented vet. My primary concern is that Sanka is egg bound which might explain the swelling around her cloaca ("butt") and the lack of feces due to an egg obstructing her colon.
Here's a good overview of this disorder for you: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/egg-binding-in-birds/863
Heating Sanka's environment to 80F - which it sounds as if you're already doing - may be helpful but these birds can be in a very precarious state and require prompt attention from a vet (please see here: www.aav.org). Feeding her calcium-rich foods (dairy products) and making sure that an avian vitamin containing vitamin D3 (Oasis brand, e.g.) is present in her water might also be helpful.
I understand your logistical constraints. Perhaps she's not egg bound at all; instead, she hasn't been eating well and so isn't producing as many droppings as usual. That would be worrisome as well but not as critical as could be egg binding.
Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
