This is another question about our almost 3 week old duck who has been diagnosed with pneumonia. When we are administering his antibiotics (liquid form), should we allow him to take drinks of water at the same time to help him swallow the medication or should he take the medication by itself? We were just wondering if we were allowing him to water down the medication and make it less effective by taking a drink. Thanks for your help!

Hello,I hope Fluffy is improving with the medication. If the water he is drinking actually helps him swallow, the amount of medication he is consuming remains the same whether he drinks water with it or not. As long as you make sure he swallows the medication and water, it won't cause a problem. However, if he's drinking before swallowing the antibiotics, he may actually be washing it out of his beak and into the water container. If you can't tell if he's doing this, it may be best to only give him a drink after all the medication is down. If you would like any additional information or have more questions please don’t hesitate to ask! I hope fluffy will soon be fully recovered.AnnaPlease remember to only rate my answer when you are 100% satisfied.
