Customer Question

My hen has been staying with a friend for a week. She was fine before she went but while there did not lay and has ben returned to us double the size she was. She is so big she can hardly move and if she does walk she is waddling and dragging her tail feathers behind her. Her eyes are bright and her comb is a good colour. Any ideas what is wrong with her?

Hello, I'm Dr. Josh. I'm here to answer your poultry questions. Healthy birds and satisfied customers are my goals. I see that you have been waiting for some time for an answer. First, was the hen laying when you took her to the friend's house? Did the bird eat normally while boarding? Has the bird been vaccinated for any common chicken diseases? Any chickens at the friend's house? Is bird eating and defecating normally?Any blood in the stools or urates (the white cap on feces)?
