Is there any wait to stop birds from pooping on patio furn

This answer was rated:

Is there any wait to stop birds from pooping on patio furniture?
-- Do you know the species of bird?

Are you aware of any nests in the area? Is your patio under shade trees?

Whatever details you can provide will be helpful

No nests, no swimming pool, no bird fountain. Have a covered patio...no shade trees. Not sure of species...cannot catch them in the ""act". I think they actually just come and sit on the high back chairs to use the restroom.
--- There are 3 things that draw any animal to a location: Food, shelter, the opposite sex.

If you have even the slightest remnants of food left around, you may be attracting grain eaters going for bread crumbs, cracker flakes, even lawn seeds, flower seeds, you get the idea. Meat eating birds might be finding snails, slugs, worms and other things they can't resist in the lawn surrounding your patio.

-- Doing your best to eliminate the food attraction is one step. From your description the shelter factor isn't the problem and when it comes to the opposite sex, well, there may be all sorts of things going on there over "dinner".

One of the most humane and effective deterrents I’ve seen is a water and noise system that’s motion activated. This one is called The Scarecrow and you can see a video of it working (it’s actually pretty funny) here:

Click ‘demonstrations’ on the left side of the page when you get there.

Though is one particular brand, there may be others and of course other sources of sales, so shop around for a bargain.

As for the other things promoted in garden stores and online sites, including fake owls or other birds of prey, fake snakes and so on – they don’t work. Birds are pretty smart and they quickly figure out what’s a real threat and what’s little more than a decoration.

---

There is a device on the market that is a huge success and is harmless to the animals you’re trying to keep out – it’s called the “Scarecrow” (made by Contech). This is a motion sensor sprinkler system that also works to keep all sorts of critters out of gardens and yards.

Here’s a look at the device in action (no animals are harmed)

A product in most pet stores is a canister that releases a blast of air (with or without a blast of sound) when a motion sensor is triggered. There are different manufacturers so shopping around is a good idea for price.

Thank you for choosing to pursue a humane option - I wish you all the best!
