Customer Question

Can tresaderm (for dogs and cats) be used safely on a little conure. She has torn away the skin under her wing. Thank you!

Optional Information:
Age: 10; Female; Breed: conure

Already Tried:
vitamin E and emu oil. Little gal dug her skin away under the arm so there is no skin to pull together with a stitch or glue. Thank you so much--what a wonderful site this is for people out in the "sticks" and no avian vet available.

Hello,

The best treatment for an area like that would be to use some Triple Antibiotic ointment. The Brand is Neosporin, but you want the type without pain killer. This would be non toxic and also afford a good way for the area to heal and protect the area from bacteria. The tresadem has an antifungal and steroid in it, so I would be very hesitant to use it on a bird, especially if the area can be reached with the break and tongue and ingest it. Joan
