Customer Question

My husband was admitted to a nursing home for physical therapy after surgery to remove non-lethal blood clot on his calf. Spent 13 days in nursing home taking oxycodene every 4 hours. Was not given any medicine to keep his bowels moving. He was operated on to remove his colon due to it being gangrene because of severe constipation. He died six months later because of complications from removing his colon. Do I have a case against the nursing home?

I am very sorry for your loss. There is a case for malpractice and wrongful death. Normally would be handled by a lawyer locally on contingency fee basis. That lawyer would get the medical records and work with a medical expert. Procedurally, the case would be filed by his estate, through its appointed representative, which is normally the surviving spouse.
