I am a physician in Florida. Discharged a patient suffering

Customer Question

I am a physician in Florida.
Discharged a patient suffering of headache by certified mail.
I saw her a few times and wrote a prescription of a non controlled substance.
How much time do I need before I may talk to the patient as a friend with no doctor patient relationship?

Once discharged, there is no waiting period. You are free to contact but should make clear you are doing so as a friend, and if there is any confusion, follow up with a letter/e-mail confirming your contact was friendly and not as a doctor. Practically, I would wait to contact until learn she is under care if someone.

Kindly let me know if that is fast and clear, and if i may clarify anything, just ask me.
