I have a five month old who has had a cough for four days now and from the beginning, it has been 4- small coughs in a row. Now, four days in, her little coughing spells are twice as long. That doesn't seem the mo of how whooping cough starts, but 5 month old+ minicoughing spells has me worried. We haven't been around anyone that we know to have it but have been around crowds and out and about. I want to be preventative at this point if it could be w.c. I will go to my pediatrician monday but don't know if I should head to the er now. I know that the sooner it is caught there's a chance antibiotics can help. Her coughs aren't often. She has a stuffy nose as well.
