Have Pediatric Questions? Ask a Pediatrician.
Greetings,Thank you for your question.I am Dr. Su S.I will try my best to help you.
Did she have rash?
What medicines were given in ICU?
What other medicines is she taking now?
Thank you for the input. As she had a history of travelling in the mountain area two weeks before illness, RMSF can be taken in differential diagnosis.Usually fever, rash, abdominal pain are common symptoms.Rash is present in 90% of cases, but she did not have it.Initially tests may not be positive.Doxycycline is the drug of choice. Now you can discuss with her doctor about this.If he feels, he can consider taking tests for RMSF.I hope this information will be helpful. If you have any query, please feel free to ask.If you are happy with my answer please click on the Excellent/Good rating. Wish her healthy life.Regards.
