Customer Question

Saturday will be 3 weeks the my 6 year old son has had extremely swollen lymph nodes in his neck (more so on one side). They just popped up within 24 hours, after 10 days on antibiotics there is no change in size. No other symptoms, no fever or sore throat. Should I be worrying about something serious??

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Most liekly your son had aviral infection.

That can cause swollen lymph nodes and can persist for several weeks.

Ebstein barr virus is one such example.

THis can be confirmed by the blood tests.

I will suggest blood tests --blood count with differential, EBV antibodies in this regard.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
