Customer Question

I have a 8 year old girl who is complaining of stomach pain, hasn't eaten much for the past two days (usually has a large appetite), has a temp of 100.2 and had a small bowel movement earlier but that wasn't the issue. Was wondering if we should take her to the ER because there is no urgent care in the area or is there anything we can do from home?

Greetings,

Thank you for your question.

I am Dr. Su S. and I will try my best to help you.

Where does she feel the pain precisely?

Is there any tender point?

How is urine?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Pain is in lower abdomen on either side of belly button. She is slightly distended and her stomach is sort of hard. Urine is fine. It does not hurt.

Thank you for the input.

I am sorry for her condition.

There can be GI infection.

Appendicitis can start around belly button & shift to lower abdomen.

It is usually felt in right side.

Urinary infection can be there without apparent change in it.

I would advise to take her to ER as the abdomen feels hard & distended.

An ultrasound, blood work & other tests would be helpful.

I hope this information will be helpful.
