I have a 2 year old with increased bun at 22 and bun

Customer Question

I have a 2 year old with increased bun at 22 and bun creatinine ratio 68 globulin 1.7, albumin/globulin ratio 2.8 and McCain at 87. Just wanting to know what other labs should be done to get to the bottom of what's going on?

Hi

This is not very meaningfull since the creatinine is normal.

A BUN of 22 is really borderline and non descript.

Mild dehydration could do this.

Same with the globulin.

Labs that should have been done to make sure

CBC

CMP [comprehensive metabolic panel]

Urinalysis.

Stool sample to rule out occult blood.

I don't know what you mean by "mccain at 87."

And what does his doctor say?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
CBC showed the MCV at 87. Sorry phone typed McCain. Urinalysis is being done. On the comprehensive all else was fine. Previous lab showed a low protein, but I started giving him a wholefood protein supplemental shake and brought it back to normal on this last test. Stool sample not done yet. I haven't consulted with his MD yet. I am a DC and usually do all the labs first then take them to the MD to evaluate and give their insight. His doctor is out of town and was a little stuck and concerned since I've tried to make sure that daycare stays on top of giving him enough fluids.. Thanks, ***** ***** is well appreciated.
