Customer: my daughter has an ear infection and cough what is dosage of amoxicillin 400/5ml suspension for 7 year old 50 lbs?

She has developed a cough the last few days and now ears hurt her. I happen to have my babies antibiotic with me and would like to start my 7 year old on it for tomorrow until we can get to dr on monday. What is dosage?Thanks

I am Dr. Su S. and I will try my best to help you.
Usually in upper respiratory infection, the dose varies from 20-50 mg/ kg/ day.
So the maximum dose for her would be around 4 ml. 3 times a day.
But, I would advise to get her examined by doctor before starting antibiotic.
In some cases, higher dose is needed like 80-90 mg/ kg/ day or there can be a viral infection which would not need any antibiotic.
