Hello, Sorry about this diagnosis. This mostly is a passing condition when brain development is going on and some chemicals are missing, or some brain centres are not fully connected. If beyond early childhood this condition persists, drugs are resorted to for amelioration of symptoms so that schooling, education etc are not affected.

4yr old will not need any, just remedial behavioral therapy is given by trained specialists. For 12 year old, prescription drugs available which are either stimulant like concerta or ritalin, or other class.

In person evaluation and meeting specialist in your area are required.
