Customer Question

Is it safe to hold a six month old baby upside down by their feet.

Greetings,
Thank you for your question.
I am Dr. Su S. and I will try my best to help you.

Holding the baby upside down would increase congestion of blood vessels in the head, face area.

So prolonged holding in this position is not advisable.

It may be done for a few seconds to a few minutes.

Sometimes, doctors do it soon after birth to drain secretions from mouth, throat.

There can be risks of other injuries from this unstable position.

I hope this information will be helpful.
