Have Pediatric Questions? Ask a Pediatrician.
Hello, Sorry about this problem. While feeding him please take care his lips are firmly fitting nipple so that he does not suck lot of air along with feeds. In between feed also raise him on shoulder to burp, and keep vertical for few minutes after each feed. When he has acute problem, please use lubricated rubber tube inserted gently inside through anus, keeping outer end open some time to allow any gas from lower colon out. Also give sips of dill water frequently during waking hours between feeds. Solids based on rice may be continued. If fart gas smells, you may have to start on an enzyme drops preparation after feeds every 6 hours.
Greetings,Thank you for your question. I am Dr. Su S. and I will try my best to help you.
How is his stool?
Did pediatrician tell to stop solids?
Did he prescribe any medicine?
How is his weight gain?
Thank you for the input. From his symptoms, it is likely due to infantile colic. This can start as early as 2 weeks & subsides usually by 6th month.I feel he will have improvement soon.I am sorry for your difficulty. As his feeding, weight gain, urine, stool are normal & he does not have any other symptom, you need not to worry. The cause of colic is not clear. You can hold him as much time as possible. This helps a lot to calm the baby.Baby carrier can be helpful. You can gently rock the baby or hold him upright. This help to expel gases too.A warm towel can be put on his abdomen.Singing lullaby can be helpful.Pacifier can be used.White noise like that of a fan, machines can help to calm him.You can try those measures.Simethicone drops are also used. You can talk with his doctor about it.Nexium can be started again.I hope this information will be helpful. If you have any query, please feel free to ask.If you are happy with my answer please click on the Excellent/Good rating. Wish his healthy life.Regards.
