My six week old has a bilirubin level of 11.5. He was Coombs

Customer Question

My six week old has a bilirubin level of 11.5.
He was Coombs + and jaundiced at birth. We followed his numbers until they started to trend down around day 10 and then he was released from care.
Today he had a weight check and our NP thought his color was cause for concern.
We are scheduled to see the pediatric gastroenterologist tomorrow.
I'm wondering about the differential and what to be prepared for tomorrow. I'm assuming they will do more blood work and possibly imaging. What are the most common causes?
Could this have anything to do with increased fussiness and elevated temperature?

Greetings,
Thank you for your question.
I am Dr. Su S. and I will try my best to help you.
As he is having fever, fussiness, there can be an infection.
In infection jaundice can be increased.
He can need further blood tests like blood count, culture, liver function, ultrasound examination of abdomen.
Further tests will depend on finding of clinical examination & initial results of blood tests.
I hope this information will be helpful.

He doesn't have a fever, it's just that his temp is sitting around 99.5-100F.

At this age, minor elevation of temperature needs to be followed up.
