My 7 year old has been running a high fever last 3

Customer Question

My 7 year old has been running a high fever for the last 3 days. He was constipated for 2 days, but started having bm's yesterday. His glands have been swollen and slightly soar. Other symptoms are headache when the fever spikes, and just now complained of achy body. MOTRIN brings it down as well as luke warm showers, and it has broke completely twice. But always comes back up. It has gotten as high as 104, but averages 102.5.

Greetings,
Thank you for your question.
I am Dr. Su S. and I will try my best to help you.
Fever in most cases is due to viral illness.
You are taking proper supportive measures.
Usually viral illness resolve within 4-5 days.
As he has swollen glands, it is better to be checked by doctor.
Strep throat can be a possibility too.
Throat swab test can be done.
I would advise to take him to doctor.
I hope this information will be helpful.

Thank you for your reply. We had considered strep, but he has no redness, or rash. And the swollen glands are very minimal. You don't notice them by sight, only by touch. Is there nothing further we can do for a viral infection?

No, rest, fluid & symptomatic treatment of fever, pain are only needed.
